A classroom transformed into A house
The “Zelfbouwschool” in Rotterdam is a collective architectural project where twelve classrooms of a 19th century school building are transformed into different dwellings.
The space for this particular house consists of one old classroom and a part of a wide corridor, separated by an original glass wall. The five meter high classroom is transformed into a living and dining room, the hallway is separated into two levels with the entrance, bathroom, bedroom and storage.
The living room has a spacious mezzanine, a steel spiral staircase takes residents through the skylight to the roof terrace.
